Guide to the Wards


First Floor  
This is the outpatient department for psychiatry.
This floor features a daycare unit for outpatients.
An adjacent facility houses the department for internal medicine and the dental clinic.

Second Floor  
This is a closed ward for the treatment of dementia related disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. Demented patients are treated with only the necessary drugs and are not restrained. By not over-drugging, patients are more active and self-sufficient. A high emphasis is placed on maintaining dignity.

Third Floor  
This is the voluntary admittance ward for alcohol dependence. Patients who seek treatment for their disease stay in this ward. This is therefore an open ward. After detoxification the patient is treated by specialists. The maximum treatment is three months in duration.

Fourth Floor  
Acute mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and manic depressive disorders are treated on this closed ward mainly by drug therapy. Family and friends of the patients are permitted to visit any time during business hours. The aim, when possible, is early discharge.
 

Fifth Floor  
Doctor is doing genome research in Schizophrenia.
This ward is an open ward for the treatment of neurotic disorders, mildly depressive disorders and the chronically ill. Patients participate in the day- to-day operations of a cafe. Patients and staff can gather to enjoy coffee and conversation at 'Cafe Miyama.'
   

Sixth Floor  
This multi-purpose room has the capacity for 400 people to enjoy cinema, concerts, plays, dance, table tennis and so on. Social skills training is provided. Patients can enjoy tennis and sunbathing on the roof-top terrace when weather permits.
